·       Jesus has just dealt with a storm on his boat ride across the lake of Galilee, and dealing with 12 apostles who were still in awe of the power that Jesus had to calm the storm.

·       Darkness has fallen and this part of the shoreline where they are about to land is filled with caves in limestone rock that were used as tombs where dead bodies were laid.
